Announcing 2019 Goldman Fellows

Congratulations to the 2019 Goldman Fellows! The Goldman Fellows Program, funded by the Joyce and Irving Goldman Family Foundation, is a competitive fellowship that provides $5,000 summer stipends for continuing undergraduate students who secure unpaid internships at nonprofit, community, or governmental organizations in the St. Louis region. Fellows are supported by a network of peers and staff as they embark on their own individually-crafted internships and deepen their understanding of civic engagement through seminars, community events, and St. Louis immersion experiences.

Fellows will work at the following organizations:

  • Christian Baker is a rising senior majoring in religious studies in the College of Arts & Sciences. He is interning with Harris-Stowe State University.
  • Kayla Buttafuoco is a rising senior majoring in philosophy-neurosciences-psychology and anthropology: global health & the environment in the College of Arts & Sciences. She is interning with Places for People.
  • Tishiya Carey is a rising junior majoring in international and area studies: global cultural studies in the College of Arts & Sciences. She is interning with Minority Health St. Louis.
  • Sumil Nair is a rising senior double majoring in neuroscience and anthropology: global health and the environment in the College of Arts & Sciences. He is interning with WePower.
  • Zoe Newton is a rising junior majoring in communication design in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts. She is interning with Springboard to Learning and the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis.
  • Nia Plump is a rising junior majoring in African and African-American studies in the College of Arts & Sciences. She is interning with Jamaa Birth Village.
  • Malik Stewart is a rising senior majoring in political science in the College of Arts & Sciences. He is interning with Kenneth Powell Law Firm.
  • Megha Uberoi is a rising senior majoring in anthropology: global health & the environment in the College of Arts & Sciences. She is interning with Power4STL.
  • Mary Kimbal Vereen is a rising junior double majoring in environmental policy and Spanish in the College of Arts & Sciences. She is interning with Great Rivers Environmental Law Center.
  • Carmen Vescia is a rising junior double majoring in anthropology and Latin American studies in the College of Arts & Sciences. She is interning with Casa de Salud.
  • Hannah Wheaton is a rising senior double majoring in American culture studies in the College of Arts & Sciences and marketing in the Olin Business School. She is interning with the American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri (ACLU).
