Apply for WUSTL College Advising Corps

Are you a graduating senior or recent WashU grad who is interested in college access work and wants to be a change agent in the St. Louis community by helping local high school students understand and navigate the college-going process? The Washington University College Advising Corps might be a great fit for you!

The WUSTL College Advising Corps is looking for graduating seniors (or recent alumni) to be full-time college advisers in selected St. Louis area high schools. Advisers help students in under-served communities navigate the college-going process. WashU CAC is part of the National College Advising Corps, which works to increase the number of low-income, first generation, and/or underrepresented high school students who pursue higher education.

College advisers receive extensive training and work alongside school guidance counselors to support college-related programming and activities. Adviser position appointments are for up to two years starting late June/early July 2020. Upon successful completion of each term of service, advisers are eligible to receive a monetary education award that can be used toward graduate school and/or paying student loans. This is a full-time WashU paid position with benefits.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a recent (December 2018-May 2020) Bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis
  • Must have a strong commitment to service and an ability to collaborate creatively and effectively with others in order to solve problems and reach goals
  • Interest in (and preferably some experience) working with underrepresented populations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
