Civic Café Civic Skill Building: Craft and Social Change

March 5, 2024
5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Stix House, 6470 Forsyth Boulevard, Clayton, Missouri 63105 (United States)

From sewing circles to patchwork quilts handed down from generation to generation, sewing has a long and rich history rooted in community building, especially amongst women and marginalized communities in the home. It also offers us the opportunity to mend some garments and give new life to others. This act of sustainability and renewal also creates an opportunity to explore anti-capitalistic approaches to making and reusing materials around us. If you have an interest or curiosity as to how we can use mending and patching techniques in a civically mindful way, then this Civic Skill Building Workshop is for you. Bring an old t-shirt, jacket, or corduroys and explore how you too can create something anew.

Join us on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., for ‘Craft and Social Change,’ led by the talented artist and curator, Sage Dawson
