In partnership with the Center for Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of Sustainability, the Gephardt Institute will host Engage STL, an Immersive Experience for first year students.
Bear Beginnings is a new 9-day program that will launch this August to orient new first year WashU students to their academic, social, cultural and personal transition into the WashU and St. Louis community.
As part of Bear Beginnings, first-year students will participate in a three-day Immersive Experience with a group of peers. All first-year students are required to participate and may choose from four options.
During Engage STL, students will build relationships, visit neighborhoods, learn from community leaders and faculty, participate in excursions, and volunteer with local organizations. Topics will include community engagement; environmental sustainability; and diversity, equity and inclusion. Engage STL will help first-year students find their place at Washington University and the greater St. Louis area while building a community rooted in shared values. View a sample schedule here.
