Coming Together: Supporting Survivors of Violence

September 1, 10:30am- 4:30pm

Hosted by the Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP) Center

Are you interested in learning more about the facets of interpersonal violence in the St. Louis area? Join staff from the Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP) Center on a visit to Magdalene St. Louis, a residential housing program for survivors of sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. Participants on this excursion will have the opportunity to provide assistance to the Magdalene staff and residents with gardening, gain a better understanding of sex trafficking dynamics, and learn from some of Magdalene’s residents. This excursion would be a great fit for students that want to be advocates for survivors of sexual violence and gain tools for supporting any friends and loved ones who have experienced violence.

This excursion will be available for up to 10 students.

Trigger Warning: This excursion will involve conversations surrounding matters of sexual and/or power-based violence that may be emotionally challenging for participants. Support specialist staff will be available on this excursion for processing.

Physical Requirements: The service project portion of this excursion includes gardening, therefore there can be some physical limitations for participants. Would not be encouraged to participants that may have severe allergies triggered by pollen/plant life.
