Civic Action Week: DemocraSing!

February 21, 2025
7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Stix House, 6470 Forsyth Boulevard, Clayton, Missouri 63105 (United States)

WHEN: Friday, Feb. 21, 7 – 9:30 p.m.
WHERE: Stix House

HOSTED BY: The Gephardt Institute (@washugephardt) and the Graduate Center (@washugradcenter)

Though the federal election year is over, civic engagement doesn’t end at the ballot box. After our votes are cast, the work we do to engage our communities happens in the relationships we build. Throughout history, music has been used as a tool for political engagement, social change, and building the connections that promote it. Join the Gephardt Institute in hosting our first ever DemocraSing, where we’ll come together to explore joy, music, and community building as tools for building a strong democracy!

Attend for a night of community-building and fun, where Gephardt staff with experience in deep canvassing and advocacy will speak about what civic engagement, hope, and coalition-building look like in our everyday lives. Enjoy food, a complimentary happy hour for guests 21+, and a night of music. Come early for a special performance by the WashU Choir, who will kick us off for a night of civic engagement through song. Sing the night away as we build democracy from the ground up!

Check back soon for registration information.

What is Civic Action Week?

From Feb. 17-23, 2025, Civic Action Week will highlight civic engagement opportunities throughout Washington University. All week across campus, different student groups, faculty, staff, and community partners will host events and other opportunities to engage.  A special thanks to our sponsor, the Women’s Society of Washington University, for their financial support of this endeavor.
