Lois & Bert Neighbour Civic Scholar

Jayda Smith is a Lois & Bert Neighbour Civic Scholar from Kansas City, MO majoring in Psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences. Her civic interest consisted of working with the underserved community and helping them strengthen their financial literacy which an emphasis on the psychological aspects of financial literacy.

For her Civic summer, Jayda partnered with Cornerstone CDC in St. Louis, taking on the role as Senior Evaluation and Program Intern for Cornerstone CDC’s “In the Black Fellows” program. Her role mainly consisted of working on evaluating data needed for program operations, program management and helping with logistics.

After graduation, Jayda plans to continue on to graduate school to become an occupational therapist, implementing community engagement or public health into her career.
