The Gephardt Institute Student Advisory Council is a dynamic group of student leaders who serve as both advisors and ambassadors for the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement.

The Council provides valuable input and feedback on institute programs, services, communications, and other civic and community engagement initiatives at Washington University.  

In addition to advising, Student Advisory Council members actively promote the Gephardt Institute’s mission among their peers — helping to connect students who might not otherwise know about the Institute with opportunities to participate in its programs, events, and initiatives. Through intentional outreach and peer-to-peer connection, Council members play a key role in expanding the reach and impact of civic and community engagement across campus. 

Council Responsibilities 

Student Advisory Council members are asked to: 

  • Advise and provide student feedback on current and proposed civic and community engagement initiatives, marketing and communications, and Gephardt Institute programming.  
  • Identify key opportunities, needs, issues, and concerns of the Washington University student body related to civic and community engagement. 
  • Share information about institute programs, events, and resources with peers, student organizations, and campus networks. 

Membership 

The Student Advisory Council consist of 15-18 students and reflects a diverse range of perspectives, representing undergraduate and graduate/professional students; academic schools; social identities; and campus, community, and civic involvement.  

Member Benefits
