The Health Professional Student Leadership Council (HPSLC) invites students, faculty, and staff to join us for an engaging and informative lunch session on approval voting. This is a system that will be featured in the upcoming St. Louis City elections. As part of the Gephardt Institute’s Engage Democracy Pillar and in alignment with HPSLC’s continued efforts to boost voter engagement through Vot-ER, this session will deepen your understanding of the electoral process and empower you to participate effectively in the March and April 2025 elections.
Participants will learn the breakdown of what approval voting is, how it works, and why it’s important. Dan Butler, Professor of Political Science, will discuss the importance of voting in primary elections and the ins and outs of approval voting. Professor Butler’s talk will equip voters with the knowledge and confidence to use approval voting in upcoming St. Louis City elections.
What is Civic Action Week?
From Feb. 17-23, 2025, Civic Action Week will highlight civic engagement opportunities throughout Washington University. All week across campus, different student groups, faculty, staff, and community partners will host events and other opportunities to engage. A special thanks to our sponsor, the Women’s Society of Washington University, for their financial support of this endeavor.
