Understanding policy-making processes is crucial for researchers who want their work to lead to real change. In a presentation from the Center for Advancing Health Services, Policy & Economics Research (CAHSPER), students will learn how research can be translated to policy that contributes positively to change efforts. This is a unique opportunity to understand and learn how to overcome the culture clash between researchers and policy makers who are both interested in making an impact.
CAHSPER Co-Director Timothy McBride, an influential health policy analyst and Bernard Becker Professor at the Brown School, will share best practices and tips for designing written products that will effectively communicate and maximize the policy impact of research. He will also share some examples of how he has worked with and influenced policy makers in his own career. We hope this event will inspire students to think about the end users of their research and ways in which they can become directly involved in policy making processes.
What is Civic Action Week?
From Feb. 17-23, 2025, Civic Action Week will highlight civic engagement opportunities throughout Washington University. All week across campus, different student groups, faculty, staff, and community partners will host events and other opportunities to engage. A special thanks to our sponsor, the Women’s Society of Washington University, for their financial support of this endeavor.
