Civic Action Week: Defend the Dream: ACLU Volunteer Drive

February 19, 2025
11:00 am - 2:00 pm
DUC Tabling (United States)

WHEN: Wednesday, Feb. 19, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
WHERE: Danforth University Center Tabling
HOSTED BY: Association of Black Students WashU (@abswashu), ACLU of Missouri (@aclumo)

The Association of Black Students is partnering with the American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri to recruit volunteers. The ACLU’s five areas of focus include freedom of speech, voting rights, reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ rights, and the school to prison pipeline. Join us at the DUC from 11am-2pm to sign up for volunteer opportunities with the ACLU on their work of advancing constitutional freedoms in Missouri.

About the ACLU: The ACLU of Missouri defends civil liberties and the principles of equality and justice in Missouri through its litigation, legislative, communications and community engagement programs. The ACLU was founded in 1920 as the first public interest law firm of its kind and is recognized as the country’s foremost advocate of individual rights. We base our work largely on the U.S. and Missouri Constitutions, which, along with state and federal laws, protects certain fundamental rights of individuals against the power of the government and will of the majority.

What is Civic Action Week?

From Feb. 17-23, 2025, Civic Action Week will highlight civic engagement opportunities throughout Washington University. All week across campus, different student groups, faculty, staff, and community partners will host events and other opportunities to engage.  A special thanks to our sponsor, the Women’s Society of Washington University, for their financial support of this endeavor.
