The Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement will host a Civic Skill Building Workshop focused on developing skills and awareness to ensure civic participating is accessible to all. We are honored that Andrew Lackey, Deputy Commissioner of the St. Louis Office on the Disabled, will be joining to lead this Civic Skill Building Workshop.

We will discuss the following questions:

  1. What are the ways in which we, as community members, can become more informed and more active in making sure public spaces and public life is set up in ways which disabled experiences are being considered and integrated into decision making?
  2. How do we advocate with disabled community members to ensure policies are being created and/or upheld to provide the quality of life they deserve?
  3. How have disabled citizens navigated civic spaces and advocated to change the civic landscape?
