We are WashU in St. Louis, for St. Louis, and with St. Louis.
At the Gephardt Institute, we believe engaged citizens foster thriving communities. Through our Engage St. Louis pillar, we engage WashU students in learning about the complex histories, vibrant communities, and outstanding opportunities in the St. Louis community.
We seek community partnership and input in supporting educational and experience-based opportunities aimed at inspiring WashU students to learn about, participate in, and impact St. Louis. If your organization is looking to engage WashU students, we invite you to explore how we can support and partner with you:
Check out our New in the Lou video, interactive map, and guide designed to prompt students to consider their introductory understanding and relationship with St. Louis.
The St. Louis Fellows Program is a unique opportunity for WashU undergraduates to dedicate a summer to St. Louis with peers from across schools and majors who want to learn from and contribute to the St. Louis region beyond their classrooms. Through this competitive program, undergraduate students spend a summer immersing themselves in St. Louis by working full-time nonprofit or civic internships, attending a range of community events, and engaging in an experiential curriculum to understand St. Louis’ history, culture, politics, challenges, and opportunities.
If you are interested in hosting a St. Louis Fellow in Summer 2025, please review and complete our Request for Internship proposals here. To be considered for Summer 2025, all requests are due by Jan. 31, 2025.
