Engage Democracy Fellow
Aliyah Wilcox (they/them) is the 2024-2026 Engage Democracy Fellow at the Gephardt Institute. In this role they promote civic engagement in WashU’s graduate student population. Aliyah attained their bachelor’s degree at Tulane University, where they majored in Political Economy and Africana Studies and minored in both Latin American Studies and Psychology. Currently, they are a first year MSW candidate at the Brown School and using their academic background to investigate how social policy impacts a diverse set of groups across the country. Aliyah is a passionate writer, a singer, and a creative at large with a love for connecting with others. What drew them to the Gephardt Institute was precisely this – the opportunity to connect with others, promote conversation about civic engagement, and have honest discussions that stimulate social change.
