Anthology at Clayton View is a local Assisted Living and Memory Care community that believes in providing opportunities for their residents that go outside the old standards. Opening Minds through Art (OMA) is an award-winning, evidence-based intergenerational art program for people living with dementia. Students are paired with an elder “artist” to create meaningful art over the course of 8 weeks. The program culminates in a gallery exhibition celebrating the artists’ and the students’ accomplishments. Research has proven that OMA helps to change how others view, interact with, and care for people with dementia. It is a perfect volunteer opportunity for students in all fields of study, especially those in a human services field. Orientation sessions will be held during the week of February 9.
