Jade Zhang

Civic Scholars Program

For her 2024 Civic Summer Jade worked at the United States Environmental Protection Agency at their Region 5 Headquarters in Chicago. During her months there she primarily assisted in planning and implementing the EPA’s Environmental Justice Academy in East St. Louis, Illinois, a program that seeks to help residents cultivate the necessary skills to better advocate against environmental challenges within their communities. In addition to the EJ Academy, she also aided in other outreach initiatives.

St. Louis Fellows Alum

Jade was also a Aaron Naparstek and Joanne Nerenberg Fellow in the St. Louis Fellows program. Jade Zhang, class of 2025, interned at Great Rivers Environmental Law where she summarized hundreds of pages of legal depositions, prepared memos and drafted legal paperwork, and hosted an event to raise awareness about the issue of toxic waste in North St. Louis.
