In collaboration with the Women’s Society of Washington University, the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement is excited to announce the inaugural Civic Action Week, Sept. 25-30, 2022.
It’s a new initiative to highlight civic engagement opportunities available at WashU and in the St. Louis community. Working across campus with faculty, staff and community partners, Civic Action Week will include activities, events, speakers, art projects and more.
Civic Action Week is part of the Gephardt Institute’s mission to foster a thriving culture of civic engagement throughout Washington University, realized by engaged citizens, scholarship, and partnerships that advance the collective good. Civic Action Week puts this mission front and center before the WashU community, and will provide students with awareness, opportunities and infrastructure to get involved and take action.
To make sure that an inclusive variety of civic engagement opportunities are represented during Civic Action Week, Gephardt Institute seeks proposals from the WashU community. We want your ideas for activities, workshops, public art, community service—anything related to civic and community engagement and helps develop student interest.
Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis until Aug. 1. The Gephardt Institute will serve as a point of coordination and logistical support, and is also available as a sounding board and thought partner.
All those who submit a proposal will be invited to the Gephardt Institute Catalyzer Connection Reception during Civic Action Week, where attendees will have a chance to network and connect with one another over civic conversation.
