Why does talking about politics feel so hard right now? Lunch with Dick Gephardt and Dr. Taylor Carlson

October 6, 2022
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Women’s Building Formal Lounge

Former U.S. Representative Dick Gephardt and Dr. Taylor Carlson, Assistant Professor of Political Science, will discuss the current state of political communication and its impact on our democracy. Dr. Carlson examines how political information gets distorted through social transmission and why that matters, and why some individuals engage in (or avoid) political interactions. Rep. Gephardt, our founder and namesake, contributes to numerous bipartisan and nonpartisan democracy efforts, including the Partnership for American Democracy and projects aimed at decreasing misinformation and polarization.

The WashU community is invited to lunch with Rep. Gephardt and Dr. Carlson as they discuss these matters on Oct. 6, from Noon to 1 p.m. in the Women’s Building Formal Lounge, Danforth Campus. Learn More and RSVP Here.
