Biking Through Local Food Movements

September 1, 9:30am- 3pm

Hosted by the Office of Sustainability

Using the bike share program offered by Lime Bike, we will ride through a variety of St. Louis neighborhoods and parks, which will lead us to the Tower Grove Park Farmers’ Market. There, students will have the opportunity to discover local products. We will then visit Seed Sprout Spoon, a local catering and event space where we will eat lunch and learn about the neighborhood’s efforts to unify community through local food. On our journey, we will also explore an urban farm and discuss sustainability efforts in St. Louis city and at WashU. Riding bikes will provide an opportunity to learn more about alternative transportation options and commuting tips. We will bike on a mix of protected bike paths and city streets.

This excursion will be available for up to 14 students.

Physical Requirements: Need to be able to bike a total of 14 miles at a leisurely path (about 10MPH, frequent stops). There will also be walking outside for about 1 hour. We will accommodate food allergies/restrictions.
