WELCOME
Thank you for your interest in the Gephardt Institute’s St. Louis Fellows Program. The Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement supports student learning, engagement, and leadership in civic life.
The St. Louis Fellows Program is a unique opportunity for WashU undergraduates to dedicate a summer to St. Louis with peers from across schools and majors who want to learn from and contribute to the St. Louis region beyond their classrooms.
Application Process
To submit your application, please ensure the following have been completed:
- Submit your completed application (below), including your resume and essays responses, online by 9 p.m. CST on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024.
- We advise that you work on your application essays in the form of a Word document first. Copy and paste your responses from the Word document into the online form to avoid any potential technical issues. Gephardt has also provided a fillable PDF Practice Application to help you draft your application, but final responses must be submitted through the application form. Please include all Washington University affiliations, including student organizations, scholarship programs, and work/internship commitments on your resume. Additionally, your resume should highlight any significant civic and community engagement experience.
- Ensure your recommendation form responses are submitted online via this form by 9 p.m. CST on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024. Applicants should solicit one recommendation as part of your application.
The recommender can be anyone who can speak to your engagement in a community setting, with a strong preference for either a WashU faculty/staff member or someone who is familiar with your interests, work, and involvement in the past year. The recommender cannot be another student at WashU. This includes WashU Student Associates (WUSAs) and Resident Advisors (RAs).
