Emily Hu

Marketing and Communications Graphic Designer

Emily Hu (she/her) is an undergraduate student pursuing a BFA in Communication Design with minors in human-computer interaction and psychology and will graduate Spring 2024. As a Graphic Designer Intern, she collaborates with the Marketing and Communications team to create graphic and layout designs, develop institute branding, as well as branding for specific initiatives and programs.

She’s excited to combine her passion for design and commitment to social impact to amplify the Gephardt Institute’s dedication to civic engagement and contribute meaningfully to the St.Louis community. She’s particularly passionate about addressing social inequality and accessibility and fostering youth empowerment. Previously, she served as a recreation leader and instructor’s assistant in the City of San Jose’s Youth Intervention Program, where she helped teach music production to at at-risk youth in gang-impacted neighborhoods. She was also a design intern for Stanford’s Asian Liver Center, an organization addressing the disproportionately high rates of chronic hepatitis B infection and liver cancer in Asians and Asian Americans.

Outside of school, Emily loves organizing painting picnics with friends, learning new inline skating tricks, curating music playlists, and reading tearjerker books. On campus, you can likely find her in her studio at Sam Fox or waiting in line for honeydew boba at Whispers Cafe.
