Engage Democracy Fellow

Eric Reiter (they/them) is an Engage Democracy Fellow at the Gephardt Institute. In this role, they serve as co-host of the Gephardt podcast “This Civic Moment” and lead the coordination of Grad Students Vote activities. They are currently pursuing their Master of Social Work degree from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work, focusing on social and economic development and policy.

They are an experienced organizer and advocate whose professional experience includes political campaigns, nonprofit direct services, grassroots community organizing, and legislative advocacy at the municipal, state, and federal levels. These experiences ground their belief in solutions-oriented approaches that meet people where they are, amplify historically excluded voices, and build coalitions that achieve positive and sustainable change.

They received their BA in Theatre and Creative Writing from Doane University. Born and raised in rural Nebraska, they currently reside in the vibrant Vandeventer neighborhood of St. Louis. You can usually find them cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team and giving unsolicited lectures on the history of the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature
