Elijah Beal
Graduate Assistant for Student Civic Learning
Elijah Beal (they/them/he/him) is a Graduate Assistant for Student Civic Learning. They provide support to the Civic Scholars program as a Teaching Assistant for their cohort seminars. Additionally, they contribute to the design, planning, and facilitation of key Civic Scholars events, including the annual Fall Kick-Off Retreat and winter immersions in St. Louis and Washington, D.C.
Elijah holds a bachelor’s degree in education, social policy, and civic engagement from Northwestern University. They are currently pursuing a Master of Social Work and Master of Business Administration from the Brown School and the Olin Business School, respectively. This academic journey fuels their passion for work at the intersection of racial equity, community engagement, strategic partnerships, and corporate social responsibility.
Particularly, Elijah is interested in how corporations, philanthropic foundations, and other anchor institutions can leverage their resources and influence to drive social change and promote equitable development in the local communities they serve.
Outside of school and work, you can find Elijah hiking through Missouri state parks, cooking meals for their loved ones, cycling, or sipping an iced lavender oat milk latte at one of their favorite St. Louis coffee shops.
