Graduate Assistant for Student Civic Learning

Grace Nelson (she/her) is a Graduate Assistant for Student Civic Learning at Gephardt. She joined in September 2022 and provides support to student programming, such as the Food for Thought program and the Civic Scholars programs. Grace is currently a Master of Public Health candidate in the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, and will graduate in Spring 2024. She received her undergraduate degree also at Washington University in anthropology concentrating in global health and environment.

She is excited and passionate about the role that civic engagement plays in public health and hopes to foster more interdisciplinary work throughout campus under the Gephardt Institute’s mission. Outside of school, Grace is a figure skater for the WashU team and also spends time going hiking, watching documentaries, and volunteering at the St. Louis Zoo.
