Isabel (Isa) Huesa is a Fox-Clark Civic Scholar from Laurinburg, North Carolina. She is majoring in Global Health and the Environment, and minoring in Biology and South Asian Languages and Civilizations in the College of Arts & Sciences. During her civic summer, Isa interned with the Public Health Foundation of India in Delhi to study the implementation of the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) Peer Education Intervention program as part of the Indian National Health Mission’s Adolescent Health Strategy. Analyzing and transcribing interviews with locals from villages in the states of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, Isa collected qualitative data to assess the impacts of the RKSK program on adolescents and peer educators themselves. She even shared her findings on the numerous effects of the RKSK program in a formal report shared at the RKSK National Dissemination Workshop in Delhi, attended by national and local public health experts and researchers.
