There are several great Asian restaurants within walking distance from campus, like Corner 17, Thai Country Cafe, and Taste of India. However, there’s nothing quite like food from home. In particular, I always find myself missing my dad’s Kimchi Fried Rice. I asked other Asian students what food they missed most from home, and one answered scallion pancakes. Another answered shrimp chips. Another answered tres leches cake. And others had their own unique answers. I compiled these foods, these memories, these snapshots of our culture in this piece, Taste of Home. When first leaving home to come to WashU, I didn’t expect to miss home food as much as I did, but I guess it’s those little things that I end up missing more than anything.
