Manager of Civic Learning Initiatives

Dewitt Campbell (he/him), is the Manager of Civic Learning Initiatives at the Gephardt Institute. Dewitt leads educational strategies to foster student learning, participation, and impact in civic life. He serves as lead instructor and program manager for the Civic Scholars Program, leads experiential learning and place-based immersions in the St. Louis community, as well as, managing civic education and dialogue programs on campus. 

Dewitt was raised just one block from the Danforth campus and has always considered Wash U to be an integral part of the St. Louis community. He received his MSW from the Brown School and was in the first cohort of Danforth Urban Fellows, which significantly impacted his career of service in and for the St. Louis Community. Dewitt is excited to bring his professional experience working in grants administration, services for unhoused youth and adults, emergency disaster services, substance abuse prevention services and diversity, equity and inclusion training and consultation to his role at the Gephardt Institute. 

Dewitt is a self-proclaimed tech gadget geek. He enjoys audiobooks, television and spending time with pets and enjoying good food. Dewitt also balances the couch activities with more active things like hiking, camping, cycling and going to the gym.
