Glimmers

Artist in The Little Things Art Exhibition

Artist Statement

This is a “boxed dinner”, prepared with trivial efforts and trivial objects which attempt to contain meaning. You see marks, surfaces, the results of movements long and thoughtful sitting next to those outcomes of split-second decisions. Hundreds of cuts and stitches raise a piece of paper up, to hold texture on its body and a void of itself. Things and moments become abstracted and printed onto translucence, then the surfaces themselves become further collapsed and contained. Hoarded things are uncovered for the first time in months, their settled dust becoming replaced by instant spray. These little things become contained in a box, awkwardly pretending to be food. The chopsticks are yours in this moment, so “eat” the little things however you like. Before you do, perhaps you’d like to hold the pieces up to the light. Perhaps glimmers would dance through.
