ZeCora Smith

Resident at the Griot Museum of Black History and Culture

ZeCora is from St. Louis, Missouri and is double majoring in communication design and African and African American studies. “Using art to reach my community is something I’ve been doing subconsciously since I was very young,” she highlighted. “I have gained a better understanding of how to be focused and intentional with my work through a course with social practice designer De Nichols and with scholars in the College Prep Program.

ZeCora’s residency is with The Griot Museum of Black History & Culture. She will participate in the organization’s strategic planning process and support special exhibition planning. She is eager to learn more about civic engagement through the arts in St. Louis and to gain new knowledge from those who are doing the work. She also hopes to draw more St. Louis creatives into the community arts sphere.
